New Year's Special: Developmental Edit
Give Your Revision a Boost, Clarity and Direction
Service Description
What am I offering with this: Developmental editing/consultation at half of my usual price. How Many of These Spots are Available? Three. I'm limiting this offer to three people, on a first-come basis. Developmental editing takes time, thought and most of all care. It's about looking closely at the work and imagining it through the eyes of the author in relation to the market and to storytelling. It's art and a craft, the labor of offering respect, support and goodwill in all ways. Why Am I Offering This? To support writers. I've been writing for over thirty years. For many years I was in workshop. I know how important it is to have another set of eyes, another mind, engaging with the work for feedback. What this is not: This isn't a line edit. I may offer some line-by-line suggestions, but the goal is a structural overview with conceptual insights, brainstorming and most of all actionable suggestions. When? Working together, let's schedule your manuscript for submission at anytime in 2026. Use this schedule as motivation to get the project into shape! Now or later in the year--set goals, commit to your own work, reserve a time of your choosing to submit your manuscript. Developmental editing is an opportunity to have a published, professional author read your work-in-progress and offer comments designed to expedite the revision process through increased confidence, insight and purpose. I will bring all the focus, dedication and experience of my creative path to your project. My hope is always to help other writers succeed. My aim is always to identify a writer's goals, consider what I've learned over decades, and offer as much clarify as possible for an author--an artist, a writer. This is a short term, limited offer. I'm going to keep this post up for about two weeks or less. If the three spots fill, or if they don't, I will close the door at that time. *This is an online submission of a manuscript-in-process up to 250 pages, anytime in 2026. If you'd like, I'll include one half-hour phone consultation after I return comments on your manuscript submission, as a time to answer any questions, check in and most of all support your work-in-progress. I hope to read your work!
