In this six-week workshop, we'll focus on the craft of writing essays. What is an "essay" exactly? Come join and let's find out! The potential for range is incredible. In general I'd say the best essays create a compressed delivery, a swift way to reach for the human heart, forging connections between strangers, between reader and writer, through words on the page. Essays as a form can move from the personal to analytical, making room for comedy, pathos, heartbreak, truths...your worldview. The options are vast. Join in! We'll also look at markets, places to submit work. I love the wild, emotionally rich world of reading and writing essays, and supporting those who are doing the work. My own essays have appeared in the Paris Review, the New York Times (Modern Love) and other publications in print and online. Join in! And...let me know if you have questions! Because it is a workshop, it is limited in size.
