Service Description

Note: Meets at 6:30 pm PST. In this six-week course we'll read the 21 essays collected together in Best American Essays of 2023. We'll discuss content, an author's choices, larger concerns, and questions of what makes an essay work or fall short. All of the essays in this collection have made it through multiple rounds of editors and been chosen as the "best" of the year. What makes an essay succeed? What do we respond to? What might we like to do in our own writing?
